I loved the <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2015/04/make-it-monday-209-white-on-white-die-cuts-with-a-pop-of-color-.html">Make-it-Monday challenge</a> this week to make a card with white on white die cuts and a pop of color. I needed to make a card for my nephew's 6th birthday so this was perfect. He's having an Orange Party. It's always been his favorite color so all the food and drink will be orange.<br />

<br /></div>
I cannot remember the last time I joined the Papertrey Blog Hop. I'm so happy that I got a chance this month. I actually made two cards from the gorgeous inspiration photo. I used the diagonal stripes Cover Plate and the Sweet Life roses on both.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5uuJq1-eiL0/VTroV8evgxI/AAAAAAAADHo/s5Nnb_GLDf4/s1600/Navy-Pink%2BBD.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5uuJq1-eiL0/VTroV8evgxI/AAAAAAAADHo/s5Nnb_GLDf4/s1600/Navy-Pink%2BBD.JPG" height="640" width="512" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This next one uses the negative strips from the Cover Plate die cut. I left all the pieces in the Cover Plate die and placed a sheet of double sided adhesive over top of them. Then I poured Cotton Candy glitter from Martha Stewart all over the panel. It was messy and I'm not sure I'd go to this trouble again, but I love the result -- and I have tons of glitter to put to use:-)</div>

I made a set of these simple thank you cards because I always need more thank you cards on hand. I was able to mass produce these with the help of the MISTI. I received that great tool for my birthday from my family and that was the push that got me back into stamping.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The inspiration for this card came from <a href="http://soapboxcreations.blogspot.com/2014/04/clearly-besotted-april-release_7.html">Laurie Willison's card</a>. I could CASE Laurie's cards all day:)</div>

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you are enjoying a beautiful Easter weekend. Here's a super-quick card I made using Papertrey's <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/paper/gold-luxe-foil-patterned-paper-collection-24-sheets/">gold luxe foiled patterned paper</a> and their <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/easter-alleluias-stamp-set/">Easter Alleluias</a> stamp set.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AAhs8whf9Rg/VSFUPEQ0OUI/AAAAAAAADHA/gLfWyNNuNjI/s1600/MyRedeemerLives.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AAhs8whf9Rg/VSFUPEQ0OUI/AAAAAAAADHA/gLfWyNNuNjI/s1600/MyRedeemerLives.JPG" height="484" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was so hard to get a good picture of this card. In certain light the gold polka dots looked black and in others they were glowing so much it was blinding:) Anyhow, I hope you can see that parts of the word Redeemer are embossed in gold as well as the cross. Regardless, the message is the perfectly clear. My REDEEMER lives! What a beautiful assurance we have knowing that fact.<br />
<br />
Have a blessed Easter!<br />

Hello out there ... long time no see. I'm dusting off the blog to share a few new cards. Stamping took a back seat to everything else for a long time and I'm happy that I'm finally back at it.<br />
<br />
For these one layer cards, I kept things simple by masking off an area on each card and sponging a variety of inks. Then I chose a silhouette image to stamp over the sponged area and finished it off with a sentiment.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kg1eAg1GMig/VRdPe9H45YI/AAAAAAAADFs/u_4R8eSytmM/s1600/P1020335.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kg1eAg1GMig/VRdPe9H45YI/AAAAAAAADFs/u_4R8eSytmM/s1600/P1020335.JPG" height="312" width="400" /></a></div>

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you had a great week. Here's a quick and easy card I whipped up for a friend.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The beautiful embossing folder from Darice made this card a piece of cake. My sweet friend recently gave me the folder as a thank you gift. I just had to put it to use. It's funny that I have sooooo many embossing folders in my stash and I never reach for them. Why not? They make such quick and interesting cards.</div>

Wow, it's been a busy Summer so far. I have not made anytime to sit down and make cards just for fun. Seems I'm always making one quickly as the need arises. This card came about because my daughter asked me to make a card for her friend's 16th birthday. Her request was to make it in the theme of Captain America because that's what her friend likes. I guess it's an inside joke that he thinks he's Captain America :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nh3rzVd0lxs/U7m643BJboI/AAAAAAAAC14/5liC7NVWMoQ/s1600/CaptainAmericaBD.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nh3rzVd0lxs/U7m643BJboI/AAAAAAAAC14/5liC7NVWMoQ/s1600/CaptainAmericaBD.JPG" height="532" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I started with a Navy card base and stamped the medallion and stars in white ink. I added the die cuts and voila! Such a quick and simple card. I just love how it turned out. I really do need to make more time to create easy cards.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm playing along with two challenges with this card:</div>

Here is a quick and easy graduation card that I made for my nephew. I also made him a money lei as is our tradition in Hawaii. Although he was graduating in Washington State we wanted to be sure he had lots of leis to celebrate his special day. My mom made a different style money lei and my brother, sister and grandma all sent flower leis.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QE6pU9W8coo/U5zCZfYaAXI/AAAAAAAAC0Q/REPBLZ_18gE/s1600/Daniel+grad.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QE6pU9W8coo/U5zCZfYaAXI/AAAAAAAAC0Q/REPBLZ_18gE/s1600/Daniel+grad.JPG" height="450" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made the graduation cap using <a href="http://karentitus.com/stampin-up-graduation-card-with-a-fun-fold">this tutorial</a>. Here's a peek under the cap:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NQ7BX2MJqDI/U5zCda19AmI/AAAAAAAAC0Y/p6iJMsjs5XQ/s1600/Daniel+Grad2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NQ7BX2MJqDI/U5zCda19AmI/AAAAAAAAC0Y/p6iJMsjs5XQ/s1600/Daniel+Grad2.JPG" height="297" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
And here's the money lei which is the real gift. Fifty one dollar bills all rolled up and tied with ribbon in his school colors. It's not the prettiest lei by any means, but I don't think an 18 year old boy cares about pretty vs. money:)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bMLJiO0n-Bk/U5zC3DkiQgI/AAAAAAAAC0g/7eVe6MY5fkc/s1600/daniel's+money+lei.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bMLJiO0n-Bk/U5zC3DkiQgI/AAAAAAAAC0g/7eVe6MY5fkc/s1600/daniel's+money+lei.jpg" height="400" width="325" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here's the handsome graduate:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Isn't this a great sentiment? I created a simple card to let the sentiment take center stage.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z42mH29_Fn0/U4XeSpnaiXI/AAAAAAAACy0/Mx2XJw-zjtU/s1600/Courage.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z42mH29_Fn0/U4XeSpnaiXI/AAAAAAAACy0/Mx2XJw-zjtU/s1600/Courage.JPG" height="640" width="508" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a few chevron pieces cut out from Papertrey's <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-cover-plate-chevron-vertical-die/">Chevron Vertical Cover Plate</a> along the side of the card. I really like this look and need to remember to use it again. I also stamped a row of triangles below the sentiment for some visual interest. Still loving these awesome Stitched Rectangle dies from Lil' Inkers!<br />
<br />

It's been a long time since I've played along with CAS(E) this Sketch. I love the simplicity of the sketch for this challenge so I gave it a go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I wanted to finally ink up my <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/circle-scribbles-stamp-set/">Circle Scribbles</a> stamp set so I used it to create the background. It ended up a bit busy for my taste, but it will make a fun birthday card for someone. The little banner is trimmed from a stamp set in the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/2012-birthday-tags-stamp-set/">2012 Birthday Tags</a> set.<br />

Here's another simple card I made using scraps and die cuts that were on my desk. More cleaning up going on today too. Who knows what I'll find:) I used distress inks to create an ombre effect on the "grateful" die cut.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TYptM2iI0v0/U1u2dvkJ7cI/AAAAAAAACxY/BnzoyidqGeo/s1600/So+Grateful.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TYptM2iI0v0/U1u2dvkJ7cI/AAAAAAAACxY/BnzoyidqGeo/s1600/So+Grateful.JPG" height="522" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This card was most definitely inspired by Julie Ebersole's awesome card <a href="http://papertrufflez.com/2014/02/ombre-love.html">HERE</a>. It's it stunning?</div>

Happy Friday everyone! I had some time today for crafting so I attempted the Watercolor Spat technique for Papertrey's Make it Monday this week. It was a fail so I'm not posting it:)<br />
<br />
Instead I'll post a card that I know is a winner because it's a direct CASE from the amazing Stephanie Wincott. You can see her original card <a href="http://stampingsharing.blogspot.com/2014/04/happy-stampers-north-west-stamping.html">HERE</a>. Aren't all those butterfly cards gorgeous?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--jivNLNHnsI/U1q1db10pFI/AAAAAAAACxI/rfZDIdNg0qQ/s1600/Butterfly+CASE.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--jivNLNHnsI/U1q1db10pFI/AAAAAAAACxI/rfZDIdNg0qQ/s1600/Butterfly+CASE.JPG" height="640" width="488" /></a></div>
<br />
This was so quick and easy and I love everything about it! I die cut each butterfly and backed the openings with scraps of card stock I had in my stash that matched the ink colors I wanted to use. After adhering the butterflies centers I popped up the wings and added some drops of pearls using my pearl pen. I'm planning on making a few more cards like this to have on hand.<br />
<br />

Here's a super quick card that took me months to make! Okay, it didn't really take months to make but I started it months ago and then left the die cuts laying in a pile for months. I finally put it all together and added some sequins to finish it off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3u-AXewS8Sk/U1ljfxbPcGI/AAAAAAAACw0/ff2VQk0lee4/s1600/Double+Hello.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3u-AXewS8Sk/U1ljfxbPcGI/AAAAAAAACw0/ff2VQk0lee4/s1600/Double+Hello.JPG" height="640" width="502" /></a></div>
<br />
I started by cutting out the "hello" from the white panel and backing the opening with black bitty dot paper. I then stamped the die cut in red. That's where I stopped months ago (can't even remember why). This is why I need to clean up my desk more often:)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Happy Easter everyone!<br />
<br />
As soon as I saw Maile Belles' card <a href="http://mailebelles.blogspot.com/2014/04/papertrey-ink-april-release-projects.html">HERE</a> (third card down) for the April Papertrey release I knew I wanted to make a card using divided panels. Then a few days later Maile posted more cards with divided panels <a href="http://mailebelles.blogspot.com/2014/04/divided-panels.html">HERE</a>.<br />
<br />
Here is my attempt. After I stamped the entire white panel I used the largest die in the <a href="http://www.spellbinderspaperarts.com/products/p-158-curved-rectangles.aspx">Curved Rectangles</a> Nestabilities set to cut it at an angle. I then adhered both pieces to a Tropical Teal card base trimming away the excess at the top. What do you think? I really like how it came out.<br />

Today I'm taking the day to try some new recipes and make some cards! I could run around town doing errands, but I'm choosing to stay home today and dig into some crafty goodies that have gone unused lately. Yay for a day off work!<br />
<br />
Here's a quick birthday card using Papertrey's <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-text-block-birthday-die/">Text Block Birthday die</a>. I received this die as a birthday gift from a sweet stamping friend. It was such a wonderful surprise. I love that I can make a super quick birthday card with this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J2FiiCnYaNk/U0_J97TLK8I/AAAAAAAACv8/jE4WhnmKmzQ/s1600/Gold+Glitter+BD.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J2FiiCnYaNk/U0_J97TLK8I/AAAAAAAACv8/jE4WhnmKmzQ/s1600/Gold+Glitter+BD.JPG" height="640" width="506" /></a></div>
<br />
I cut the text block out of gold glitter card stock and layered black behind it to make it pop. It's difficult to capture the sparkle of the gold papers in a photo but in real life this card shines.<br />
<br />
I'm playing along with two birthday challenges:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://timeoutchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/time-out-challenge-3.html">TIME OUT Challenge #3 -- make a masculine birthday card</a></div>

Okay, I couldn't resist making one more quick card using Garden Grace and the stitched rectangle dies. I just changed up the color of the card base and the sentiment from the <a href="http://theunhurriedlife.blogspot.com/2014/04/garden-grace-birthday.html">last card</a>. I like the brighter look of this base. I also added a few more flowers in the lower right corner.<br />

I'm back with a quick card I made for my mother. Her birthday is on Wednesday so I'm ahead of the game:) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_vnV_W629d4/U0Bq1GZKmyI/AAAAAAAACtY/p9Hv2FNvpSU/s1600/Garden+Grace+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_vnV_W629d4/U0Bq1GZKmyI/AAAAAAAACtY/p9Hv2FNvpSU/s1600/Garden+Grace+2.JPG" height="486" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I finally broke down and bought these awesome stitched rectangle dies from Lil' Inkers. It's ridiculous that I waited so long. These dies add just the right touch to your card panels. I love them!<br />
<br />
The stamps are Garden Grace from Papertrey. My friend loaned me her set for a wedding project I was doing. While I had them here I thought I'd make a quick card.<br />

Hi all! I really didn't intend to take that long of a blog break. Just got busy and didn't feel like blogging. I know most of you get that. I have still been making cards -- mostly because my friends and family still have birthdays coming up.<br />
<br />
Here's one I made for my daughter using some of her favorite colors: black, gold and burgundy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7HOUEIirAKA/Uz2nvn3965I/AAAAAAAACtI/CupfX0BRsG4/s1600/Golden+Birthday.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7HOUEIirAKA/Uz2nvn3965I/AAAAAAAACtI/CupfX0BRsG4/s1600/Golden+Birthday.JPG" height="640" width="506" /></a></div>
<br />
I just loved this Apache Blessing and doesn't it look cool embossed in gold? Love it! The gold strips are mulberry paper. I used my hole punch to make the little gold dots from some gold Christmas stickers.<br />
<br />
She adored this card. It's totally her style - a bit busy for my taste, but just right for her.<br />
<br />
Hope all is well with each of you!<br />

I decided to try my hand at another <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2014/02/introducing-the-2014-team-and-project-favorites.html">color combo and sketch challenge</a>. I took some creative license with the sketch:)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dBe_newQ-iM/UvbSZa5NphI/AAAAAAAACsE/hBTeDnWNGyI/s1600/Make+a+Wish.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dBe_newQ-iM/UvbSZa5NphI/AAAAAAAACsE/hBTeDnWNGyI/s1600/Make+a+Wish.JPG" height="640" width="492" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are the color combo and sketch I combined:<br />
<br />
<img src="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef01a73d6ffcbc970d-pi" /><br />
<br />
<img src="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef01a3fcb502ac970b-pi" /><br />
<br />
I had these two Kraft "rings" sitting on my desk as scraps from my father's birthday card <a href="http://theunhurriedlife.blogspot.com/2014/02/72-amazing-years.html">here</a>, so I decided to use those as the top half-circle piece of the sketch. I layered them over some guidelines card stock that I chose for the base. The candles were cut out of Kraft paper as well so the ink colors are not as vibrant. I added touches of gold glitter pen to everything to make it sparkle and shine.<br />
<br />
The photo doesn't really do it justice. It really looks better in real life.<br />
<br />
Well it's back to work tomorrow so we'll see if I can squeeze in any more crafty fun this week.<br />
<br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />

Our challenge was to create a 3x4 trading card that could be used in a pocket page or placed onto a card. I decided to make one feminine (see previous post) and one masculine scripture card.<br />
<br />
For the masculine card I used a thin piece of balsa wood and stamped a tree image for the background. The little scroll images in each corner are from the long forgotten set called Boxes, Bags and Tags. I then used a thin black pen to draw the lines. The sides look messy because of the way the ink soaked into the woodgrain.<br />

<br />
Since it was for my father I went light on the Scarlet Jewel and Pure Poppy, only using them on the gift.<br />
It was fun to get crafty again! Hopefully I'll have even more time to play along with more contests tomorrow.<br />

Here are two quick Christmas cards using the largest of Papertrey's new Fancy Flakes dies. I decided to use colors that weren't quite traditional. A brighter green and rust colored papers did the trick.<br />
<br />

<br />
I love how the middle of these snowflakes are stars. I layered them up in the centers and added a black gemstone on one and a black brad on the other. It also allows me to play along with the <a href="http://festivefriday.blogspot.com/2013/09/ffc18-element-challenge.html">Festive Friday challenge</a> to use stars on your holiday card.<br />

Happy Saturday! It's been a beautiful day here. I'm back with a super, super quick card. I wanted to play along with the Colour Q challenge because I love black and white cards with one other color.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I needed a card for a wedding we are going to next week. I think this will work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nlPZ4N3a_i8/UkdZSkZU_gI/AAAAAAAACl8/aZTLi3bE2p8/s1600/1Cor.13.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nlPZ4N3a_i8/UkdZSkZU_gI/AAAAAAAACl8/aZTLi3bE2p8/s640/1Cor.13.JPG" width="530" /></a></div>
<br />
I stamped the verse onto the Top Note die cut and then again onto my patterned paper. Then I die cut the patterned paper with my heart die and adhered it over the verse on the white panel. Easy peasy and perfectly CAS.<br />
<br />
