Stamp-A-Faire Fun

Just thought I'd share my pictures from a fun weekend at Papertrey's Stamp-A-Faire event.  Everything was wonderful and well planned.  The best part was meeting fellow bloggers and forum friends.  The Papertrey Ladies were as sweet as ever.  It was great to meet Lisa Johnson and Betsy Veldman since they were not at CHA last year.

Here's Christina, Suzanne, Chere, Jessica and myself after dinner on Friday night.  Our hotels were near each other so we decided we couldn't wait until Saturday morning to meet in person.  This group makes me wish Boston was much closer to Indiana.  We could have tons of fun hanging out.

Saturday morning we jumped right in to five make-n-takes.  There were five more in the afternoon.  Here are Suzanne and Jessica getting some tips from Lisa Johnson.  Christina is stamping away on the other side.  You can get a little sneak peek of the shape of the new Papertey ink pads next to Christina's hand.

Here is a fantastic group of women who were seated at the table next to us.  Just look at this amazing bunch.  I really needed more time to chat with each one of them.  It's Lizzie, Melissa, Anne, Cheryl, Denise and Amy.

Lizzie brought this enormous roll of foam tape with her!  I didn't even pack my ATG gun because I thought it would be too bulky.  It gave us all a good laugh.

On Saturday evening a few of us went to dinner together and then had a little Graeter's ice cream afterwards.  We couldn't resist even though we were supposed to go the dessert reception in two hours.  From left to right:  Christina, Lizzie, me, Jessica, Taheerah, Lynn, Maureen, Suzanne and Chere.  Did you notice we have another face amongst the group?  LOL!!!  It cracked me up when I got home and looked at my pictures.  That's totally something I would do when I was in high school.  Believe me, growing up in Hawaii gave me plenty of opportunities to be in tourist's photos:)

You may wonder who was taking this picture of us...none other than Lizzie's fantastic husband, Sean.  He had at least five cameras / iphones in his pockets and hands when we started.  Once he gave me back my camera I had to snap this shot.

Back at the dessert reception we mingled with everyone and watched some very excited  people win prizes.

Me & the amazing Lisa Johnson

Sweet Anne from Ireland

Amber won a prize and it was her birthday.
Nichole led us in singing Happy Birthday.

Two of he funniest gals you'll meet:  Suzanne and Rose from Canada.
Thanks for driving us around on Saturday Suzanne!  Good times.

Black & Vellum

This is a card I made for the latest challenges from Stampin' Sisters in Christ and Our Daily Bread Designs.  The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge #99 is to create a card that depicts the sharp contrast between black and white or ivory.  ODBD Shining the Light Challenge #69 is to use piercing on your card.

I tried something new with the sentiment panel and I'm not sure I like it, but I decided to keep it.  I simply cut one of the labels 10 die cuts in half and flipped one over to layer behind the other.  Oh well, here's to trying something new:)

Stamps:  Path of Life & Scripture collection 1 (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper:  black cs, vellum
Ink:  black (memento)
Other:  rhinestones (kaisercraft), paper piercer, Labels 10 (spellbinders)

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop

I'm so glad I'm finally getting to play along with the Papertrey Blog Hop.  I've missed the last two or three.  This month we had a lovely inspiration photo to work from.  Check this out:

I focused on the colors and the quilt print.  My new Iconic Images stamp set from Stamp-A-Faire was perfect for this hop.  I used several of the medallions to make a quick 5-minute CAS card.

Stamps:  Iconic Images
Paper:  Hawaiian Shores, white
Ink:  Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate

For Your Inspiration #10

It's time for the next For Your Inspiration challenge!  Steph has chosen a gorgeous and breathtaking scene.  Please join us for this great challenge.  You have until August 3rd to play.

I was immediately drawn to the steps and wanted to mimic those on my card.  I also wanted to include the fall leaves.
This is a 4 x 6 card.

I created the lines by masking off the white panel with a large post-it note and sponging lightly using Basic Gray ink.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up.

They branches are stamped on vellum and sandwiched between the white die-cut panel and red frame.  The black line on the card base is hand drawn with a black pen and ruler.  I added some red pearls to finish it off.  I decided to create a coordinating envelope too.  I should take time to do this more often.

I'm also entering this in the Wee Memories CAS challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me know what you think.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless noted.

Stamps:  Out on a Limb & Additions
Paper:  white, pure poppy, vellum

Papertrey Paper Dolls #40

Hi all!  I'm here today with a quick birthday card for Deena's Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge.  She made it easy on us and asked us to use a background stamp.
I love these musical score stamps and have not used them near enough.

After stamping the background I die cut the sentiment panel from True Black cs using the Mat Stack 2 die.  I stamped the coordinating image in white ink and then heat embossed the sentiment.  I added some Enchanted Evening buttons, pearls and black satin ribbon to finish this off.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Stamps:  BG basics: sheet music, Mat Stack 2, birthday basics
Paper:  Blueberry Sky
Ink:  black (memento), white (memories), versamark
Other:  white EP, Mat stack 2 die, black stain ribbon, ee buttons, pearls (michael's)

For Your Inspiration #9

Isn't that a stunning photo?  This is the inspiration photo for challenge number 9 at For Your Inspiration.  I really hope you play along with us.  You have until July 20th to submit a project inspired by the picture above.  I would love to see what you come up with.

Here's my take:

I was so drawn to those windows with all the colored lights.  I knew right away I wanted to incorporate that into my card.  Shapes by Design by Papertrey Ink was the perfect stamp set for my purposes.  It was one of the first PTI sets I ever bought.  I still love the clean lines and geometric shapes in the set.

I stamped the block image twice across the card and colored it in with Copics.  The colorful circle image is from the same set and colored with the same Copics.  I cut a piece of Spring Rain Twill Tape in half to border the design.  The flower is cut out of Spring Rain cardstock using a blossoms two nestie die.

Please visit the rest of the FYI design team to see their gorgeous creations.

I'm also including this in the Stampin' Sisters in Christ CAS challenge.  Peggysue has a written a great reflection for this week.  Let's all take time to Be Still and listen for that gentle whisper.
