Find-a-File Challenge

Over at the Paper Dolls Blog Christy posted our latest challenge.

She calls it Find-a-File:

This month, hunt through your forgotten computer files for a template, a digital paper, a color inspiration... whatever moves you.  Just create and post your link - you have until June 9th to play along!

Isn't that a fun challenge?  I have soooo many saved files that I never use.  So a-hunting I went...

I chose to use this awesome digital wood paper that I downloaded ages ago from Gina K's blog.  You can find the file HERE along with lots of other freebies.

Once the paper was printed and trimmed I stamped across the bottom with the small chicken wire stamp from the Farm & Barn background set (PTI).  The "hello" die cut is from a ProvoCraft set called Everyday Greetings.

The rooster and hen are from Papertrey's new On the Farm dies.  I'm not even a farm-type girl in any sense of the word, but I couldn't resist those dies for only $5.  Besides, I don't really own any animal stamps or dies.  Hopefully I'll get some good use out of them.

This card is going to my husband's aunt who recently bought a new home with lots of land for raising chickens, goats, and whatever else she decides to raise or grow.

Thanks for the great challenge Christy!

CAS-ual Fridays #53

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew that I wanted to use some die cuts that I had set aside after making THIS card.  Being the frugal person that I am, I always try to use every scrap I have.  So I went to my "to be used someday" pile and pulled out these ginkgo leaves.

I stamped them in Autumn Rose and then layered them onto an Autumn Rose card base.  The sentiment is embossed in white powder.  Easy peasy!

Have a wonderful weekend!

For Your Inspiration #30

I had so much fun creating a card for this photo inspiration challenge!  I hope you take time to play along as well.  You have until May 30th to link up a card at For Your Inspiration.

Take a look at this gorgeous picture.

I knew right away that I would sponge a similar sky and use some Stampscapes images for my card.

For the background:

  1. I started by brayering the entire glossy cardstock panel with a light yellow ink.
  2. Then I masked off the sun using a circle punched out from a post-it note.
  3. Next I sponged Groovy Guava ink all around the panel, being sure to leave some of the yellow showing through.
  4. After that I used my favorite Stampscape stamp ever, Cloud (cumulus), in a darker orange.  Do you see the fluffy clouds at the top?  That stamp is foolproof I tell you.
  5. I chose to stamp a few small strip clouds in that darker orange (stamped off once) over the sun.
The die cut sentiment came with a cuttlebug folder called Everyday Greetings.  I've had it for years and don't think I've ever used it.  I am really trying to put some old things to use.  Otherwise, I just feel wasteful.

Be sure to see the gorgeous cards that the rest of the DT made.  They hit it out of the ballpark on this challenge!    Their links are on my sidebar.

Have a wonderful day,

Stamps:   Prickly Branches, Cloud, Cloud Strips

Ink:  Buttercup, Goldrush (CTMH), Dandelion (memento), Groovy Guava (SU!)

Five Mother's Day Cards

Happy Mother's Day!  I thought I would share a few cards that I made for a co-worker of my husband.  She needed a few Mother's Day cards and I was happy to help her out.

I used patterned paper from KaiserCraft's Lush Collection for each card.  There are some great die cut tags and labels in the pack.  At the CHA show in Chicago two years ago the people at the KaiserCraft booth were so generous with their goodies.  I received several 6x6 paper pads, glue sticks, embellishments and more.  It's sad that I hadn't even touched this paper pack in two years!  Shame, shame.

It felt good to finally use some of these gorgeous papers.  It was so easy to make a few quick cards combining the papers with a variety of small embellishments.

Here are the cards:

The layout for the last one was CASE'd from Natasha Trupp's card HERE.

Have a great week,

Happy Birthday Debbie!

Today is Debbie Standard's 60th birthday!!!  I have the privilege of being on the FYI design team with Debbie.  The DT at For Your Inspiration have decided to surprise her with some birthday cards in her honor.  Debbie had a huge birthday bash yesterday to celebrate the big day.  I'm sure she had a blast.

Hope you have a fantastic birthday Debbie!!!

Here's my card:

I used the 2010 CHA set from Papertrey called Four of a Kind for the flowers and Giga Guidelines for the sentiment.  I did all the stamping and then impressed the panel with my canvas / linen impression plate.

Be sure to visit the rest of the FYI DT to see what they made for Debbie:

Hope you all have a great day and Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas out there.

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Hi again -- sorry it's been so quiet around here.  I've been making lots of cards, but I'm not finding time to write up any blog posts.

Anyway, it's time for the next For Your Inspiration challenge.  Steph has chosen a gorgeous photo for us to work with this week.  I hope you join us for this challenge.  You have until May 16th to post your project on the FYI blog.  This challenge is sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs and they are offering a prize of three free digital stamps to one randomly chosen participant.

Now, onto the photo inspiration:

I told you it was beautiful.  It reminds me of Hawaii and the west coast of Ireland.  Here's my card:

I chose to work with the A+ Bug digi from Fresh Brewed Designs.  School is almost out and I'll certainly need some thank you cards for our teachers.

I stamped the apple background, from PTI's School Time, in Ripe Avocado ink and then again in white ink (slightly off center) for a shadow effect.  I wanted to use subtle colors on the ladybug so that the colors from the photo were more dominant.

I hope you take a moment to see what the rest of the DT has created with other FBD digi's.  Their links are on my sidebar.

Blessings,
