Dahlias and Chevrons

I just couldn't resist playing along with the great challenge at Fusion.  I loved the simple sketch and the photo so I pulled out my new Papertrey goodies and went to work.  The dahlias were die cut then the outline was stamped in berry sorbet using the original Delightful Dahlia stamp set.  Afterwards I used the new Additions set to add shading with sweet blush, lavender moon and berry sorbet.  The leaves were done in the same manner using shades of green.

I trimmed a piece of sweet blush card stock to just under 3" wide and cut it out with my Chevron cover plate.  I left all the pieces in the plate and ran adhesive across the back so they would stay as one panel.  I decided to hand cut a little banner for the sentiment and then trimmed the panels in gold using a gold paint pen.  I also added gold to the flower centers.  It's hard to see in the photo, but it looks so pretty and shimmery in real life.

I'm also submitting this into the Moxie Fab birthday card challenge and Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

Thank You Banner 2

Here's another quick card using the same basic layout as the card in my last post.  I just used up some stamped circles from the 2009 Autumn Tags set that I had laying in my scrap pile and cut another banner for the sentiment.

Gotta love quick and easy cards.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Paper Players #155

Happy Sunday everyone!  I'm back with a super CAS card for the current Paper Players sketch challenge.  The banner is an image from Sketched Shapes that I stamped and trimmed by hand.  I just love how fresh and clean this card looks.

Our Own Little Challenge

I'm back today with a fun little challenge that my girls and I decided to do together.  My youngest daughter loves all kinds of crafts and often makes cards.  My oldest daughter has never been interested in card making.  She's an artist and prefers to draw.  However, she has suddenly shown an interest in card making and it was her idea for the three of us to make cards today!  I jumped right on it and turned it into a challenge.

We each had to make a card using a Kraft card base and stamps from Beautiful Butterflies.  The other supplies were optional.  Here's what I set out:

I knew that I wanted to use some polka dots for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, so I decided we could use bitty dot patterned paper too:)

Here's what I came up with.  Although I didn't create a birthday card I used the sketch from the current birthday challenge at Moxie Fab.

Here is the card that my oldest daughter made.  She actually lit the corner on fire to distress it.  Then she sponged distress ink on the edge.  She came up with the embossing on her own (without seeing my card).

And here is what my youngest daughter created.  She sponged the colors on her die cut.  She actually asked if it would be too ironic for her to stamp the sentiment in black when it was referring to rainbows.  LOL!!

We had a lot of fun making these and then sharing the end results with each other.  I'm sure they'll want to do this type of challenge again soon.

Have a great weekend,

Festive Friday #12

Happy Wednesday!  I'm so glad that I got a chance to join in on the fun at Festive Friday challenge this week.  I've watched all their challenges go by and I missed out on playing along.  The trigger this time is:

I knew I wanted to ink up the adorable Winter Penguin set that my friend gave me last year.  I created a little snowy winter scene with him.  Love the coordinating dies!  It makes it so easy to create a quick card.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Blessings,

Three Challenges in One

Happy Saturday everyone!  I bookmarked quite a few card challenges that I wanted to do this week and I managed to combine three of them on this one card.

Here are the challenges I joined:

I am so happy that I finally got to play along with Paulina's 10 Minute Craft Dash.  Since Simon Says Stamp's theme was Patriotic I knew that my color scheme would be red, white and blue.  I decided to use Laurie's card for the Muse challenge as my sketch.  That made it much easier to decide on what supplies to pull out.

Here's what I laid out to use:

Yes, I already had some stars die cut so that certainly saved time.  For my base I thought I'd use either of the Guidelines papers or just plain white.  As you can see I decided on Guide Lines II grid paper.  I liked the look of the circles with the stars.

Here's my time.  I swear I thought I'd run out of time just trying to pull the backing off of the glitter tape!  I really need to play the 10 minute challenge all the time.  It forces me to just create a card and not spend too much time over-thinking it.
