Chocolate Leaves

I finally had time to make a card!  I cannot believe I haven't stamped anything in two weeks.  I knew that I wanted to participate in Ted's fun May challenge.  Have you seen it?  Oh my, what a creative challenge.  He called it Eat Your Heart Out!, a menu challenge.  Go check it out and play along.

Here are the rules I had to follow since my birth year ends in a 2:
  • card base = brown
  • technique = paper piecing
  • embellishment = floss, string, thread
  • main image = leaves
Here's what I came up with:

I can't tell you how hard this challenge was for me.  I started with another idea, using a different stamp set, and worked on it forever before giving up.  In the end, I decided to keep it simple.  The paper piecing was the hardest part.  I couldn't get any creative juices flowing.  I wanted to stick to leaves and not add any flowers, etc. so I just decided to paper piece two of the leaves that I stamped on the base.  I added the button for balance.  What do you think?

I think it's beautiful!! The leaves stamped in Vintage Cream on the brown card stock look FABULOUS! Love what you did with the string, and the paper pieced leaves add a nice pop of color :)

I think you made a great decision keeping it simple! Everything is nicely balanced and well designed. I always have a hard time with Ted's challenges (that's why they're called challenges, lol) and I think you did a fabulous job!

Oh so pretty Sara. I like the balance here...the pieced leaves are the perfect touch with all the open stamped ones in the BG, and the scalloped sentiment panel is sweet...did you score through it?
