Our Own Little Challenge

I'm back today with a fun little challenge that my girls and I decided to do together.  My youngest daughter loves all kinds of crafts and often makes cards.  My oldest daughter has never been interested in card making.  She's an artist and prefers to draw.  However, she has suddenly shown an interest in card making and it was her idea for the three of us to make cards today!  I jumped right on it and turned it into a challenge.

We each had to make a card using a Kraft card base and stamps from Beautiful Butterflies.  The other supplies were optional.  Here's what I set out:

I knew that I wanted to use some polka dots for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, so I decided we could use bitty dot patterned paper too:)

Here's what I came up with.  Although I didn't create a birthday card I used the sketch from the current birthday challenge at Moxie Fab.

Here is the card that my oldest daughter made.  She actually lit the corner on fire to distress it.  Then she sponged distress ink on the edge.  She came up with the embossing on her own (without seeing my card).

And here is what my youngest daughter created.  She sponged the colors on her die cut.  She actually asked if it would be too ironic for her to stamp the sentiment in black when it was referring to rainbows.  LOL!!

We had a lot of fun making these and then sharing the end results with each other.  I'm sure they'll want to do this type of challenge again soon.

Have a great weekend,

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Stamps:  Beautiful Butterflies
Paper:   Kraft, white, bitty dot pp

Your Daughters have obviously inherited your crafting skills Sara - the cards are wonderful. I was very impressed with the distressing and the beautiful embossing.

Crafting is such an enjoyable hobby and it's a great idea to get the children involved at an early age.
Hope all is well - hugs, Sylvia xx
PS: I like your card too Sara!!

I love this idea for a family project. Wish I could get my girls to do something like this. It's interesting to see the different directions you each took, and each card is just wonderful. It is clear that your girls have inherited your talents.

What a fun challenge to do with your girls! I just love how you stamped the silhouettes on the dotty paper and offset the white panel on the kraft base.

Oh my, what a fun post!! You are so lucky to have such talented daughters in your craft room! Love the butterfly peeking out behind the burnt corner, and too funny about the rainbow sentiment being in black. They think of everything!

Love all the white space on your card, yet it still has interest with the embossing. So glad you joined the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
