For Your Inspiration #42

Welcome back to another challenge at For Your Inspiration.  I loved the photo inspiration this week.  I know I say that nearly every week, but this one is so beautiful.  It reminds me of the many years we lived in Arizona.  Oh how I miss that scenery!

I decided to go totally literal with the balloon and copied the colors.  I used various Copic, Distress and Sharpie markers.  The big, bold sentiment in stamped in Paris Dusk (memento) and the rhinestones were colored with a light orange Copic marker.

Can you see the linen impression on the white panel?  I decided the card needed a bit more texture so I pulled out my Linen / Canvas IP from Papertrey.

I hope you join us for this challenge.  You have until Wednesday, April 3 to link up your creation at the FYI blog.  Please be sure to visit the rest of the DT to see what they did with this photo.  I always love the variety of amazing cards the DT turns out.

Have a wonderful Thursday,

Birthday Balloons & Show Choir

I'm taking advantage of our snow day today to get a card and some photos of our weekend posted.  We spent a fun, busy weekend in Ohio to wrap up my daughter Michal's show choir competition season.  We were blessed to stay with Lynn and her family.  Since her son Ryan is also in show choir we got to see his group compete. They were amazing!

I just need to say that Lynn and Pat are raising four wonderful young men.  It was so great to meet all the boys and spend time laughing and playing games together.  Her little Marcel is hilarious and adorable.  Lynn could create a whole new blog all about the clever things he says and never run out of material.  He had us in tears a few times.

Here are a few shots from the competition.  Lynn has some great pictures of our time together on her blog post HERE.

I also wanted to share a card that I made for my nephew's 2nd birthday.  He's all about colors and the alphabet so I made this fun card for him.  He loved the background and started naming all the letters.  This boy already knows all the upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet.  This card was inspired by Gayatri's awesome card HERE.

Well, I'm off to go shovel the driveway.  I'm so ready for Summer.  At this point I can skip through Spring and head straight to a HOT summer day.

Onesie Trio

This is a card I created for my soon-to-be born nephew (any day now!).  I have loved all the adorable cards I've seen using Papertrey's Hanging Out clothesline set and dies.  I restrained myself from buying it and decide to use what I already have.  Novel idea, huh?

This little onesie on a clothesline is from Studio G's $1 sets.  I bought about 20 of these dollar sets years ago and never use them.  I stamped the onesie three times and then colored them in.  I used clouds and the sun from Up, Up and Away (PTI) for the background and the wonderful grass punch from Fiskars too.

This card is also for the Wee Memories challenge this week which is "No Patterned Paper".  Since I rarely use patterned paper I could enter nearly every card I make for this challenge.  LOL!!!  I had to make myself quit buying pp until I use what I have.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Stamps: Up, Up & Away, Everyday Classics, baby set (studio G)
Paper:   Hawaiian Shores, True Black, white, green ?
Ink:   Black, Summer Sky (memento), Sunflower, Buttercup (CTMH)

FYI Challenge #6

Happy Thursday everyone!  Today it's time for the next For Your Inspiration challenge.  I've recently been asked to join the DT for this new challenge blog!!  I'm so thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful group of stampers.  Keva Brown and Debby Hughes are new to the DT too.

Here is the photo inspiration for this week.  Please join us in creating a project based on this photo.  You have until June 1st to play!

Here's my card:

Once again I went with a literal interpretation of the photo.  These inspiration challenges are a real stretch for me -- guess that's why they are called challenges, huh?

I started with a Blueberry Sky base and embossed two clouds using my cloud dies from Up, Up & Away.  Then I stamped inside them (and around the base) with fresh snow ink.  The balloons are cut from a sheet of pp from the Polka Dot Parade collection and colored with Copics.  For the red balloon, after coloring I stamped it again in white ink with the solid balloon stamp from the same set.
This will be another card for my sweet friend who is undergoing an intensive cancer treatment right now.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Paper:  Blueberry Sky, white, polka dot parade pp
Ink:  Fresh Snow, Pure Poppy, black (memento)

OLC Fun

Here's a one layer card using Papertrey's Through the Trees, BB: Woodgrain, Father Knows Best and Up, Up and Away.
  • First I sponged the sky using my homemade scallop punch cloud template and Breeze ink (CTMH).
  • Sponged the grass and little hill using Tart lime (stampabilities) and Ripe Avocado (PTI)
  • Inked up the tree trunk with Dark Chocolate (PTI) and then "kissed" it against a woodgrain stamp from Background Basics: Woodgrain.
  • Stamped leaves in Ripe Avocado.
  • Stamped sun with Sunflower (CTMH).  Large rays are stamped off once.
  • Stamp sentiment from Through the Trees.
  • Added the leaves on the ground using the single leaf from Father Knows Best.

Birthday Balloons

Here's a quick card using Up, Up & Away.  It was totally inspired by Niki's adorable card using this set.  I kept this pretty simple.  Nothing too creative, but it sure is an easy and cute birthday card.
  • Stamped the balloons on some Spring Rain bitty dot paper and then colored them with Copics.
  • Stamped a few clouds with Brilliance Sky Blue ink.
  • Popped up two balloons and the grass with dimensionals.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated otherwise.

Stamps:  Up, Up and Away
Paper:  Stampers Select White, Bitty Dot pp, green unknown
Ink:  Memento tuxedo black, Brilliance sky blue
Accessories:  Up, Up and Away balloon dies, Copic markers, pop dots
