Prayers & Strength

This is a card of encouragement that I made using my new (to me) Faith and Hope set from Papertrey.  Everything here is pretty straightforward.  I wanted to keep the card very simple and just showcase the ribbon.  I thought I'd try something new with my Mat Stack 3 die and turned it sideways after stamping it in Fresh Snow ink.

This is for two challenges this week:

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Stamps:  Faith & Hope, Mat Stack 3, Polka Dot basics II
Paper:   White, Scarlet Jewel, Pretty in Pink (SU)
Ink:   Fresh Snow, Vineyard Berry (CTHM), Pretty in Pink (SU)
Other:  Ribbon die (faith & hope), Mat Stack 3 die, 1 3/4" hole punch

CAS-ual Fridays 17

The challenge for the week at CAS-ual Fridays is to use stickers.  Wouldn't you know it, just last Thursday I was cleaning out my room and found nine packs of stickers that I bought when I first started making cards.  Nine packs of anything unused is a ton for me so I told myself that I would put them to use.  I never use stickers, but I was going to force myself to do it.  And then ... the very next day, CAS-ual Fridays challenges us to use stickers!!  YIPPEE!!!  This may be the only card I make using stickers, but at least I used five of them :)

I made this card for some friends who are about to have their first babies -- TWINS!  They are having a girl and a boy so I made sure to incorporate pink and blue.  For the sentiment I masked off the word "bundle" on the Congrats stamp and then added "Blessings" from a different set.  I used my scor-pal to add an embossed frame around the card front and pierced a few holes for more visual interest.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless stated.

Stamps:   Polka Dot Basics II, First Fruits, Signature Greetings
Paper:   Stampers Select White
Ink:   Summer Sky, Tuxedo Black (memento), Pretty in Pink (SU!)
Other:  baby stickers (Frances Meyer), Scor-pal, paper piercer

HEC #14 - Handwritten Valentine

Last month I missed out on playing along with Ted's Happily Ever Crafter challenge.  I had a whole month to make a card and I still missed it.  This month I was determined to join the challenge.  Ted has some of the most clever challenges.

This month we are to create a Valentine's Day card.  Easy enough...BUT...a handwritten sentiment is required on the front AND the inside.  UGH!!  I never like my handwriting.  So here's my card:

After THREE attempts at writing neatly and trying to include a cute sentiment, I took the easy way out and just wrote *Love*.  One word was about all I could handle by the end:)  Seriously though, it was fun to give this a try.  Don't think I'll do it again anytime soon.

Card Details:
  • Stamped polka dots on vellum in Berry Sorbet (attached to base with scor-tape -- not visible at all)
  • Used Mat Stack 4 die cut for sentiment panel
  • Hearts are cut out and popped up for dimension
  • Decorated edges of die cut with silver paint pen

Here's the inside:

Tissue Paper Blog Hop

Time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!!  The challenge this month was to use tissue paper on our creations.  I stamped several layers of tissue paper with one of the stamps from Polka Dot Basics II in Hawaiian Shores and New Leaf ink.  Then I die cut the layers with PTI's butterfly die.  The butterflies are held together with a couple crystal brads from making memories.

The true black card base is stamped in white with the large dots from the same stamp set.  I added a small strip of Raspberry Fizz patterned paper which was punched with my Fiskars apron lace border punch.  The sentiment, from Enjoy the Ride, is heat embossed with white ep.
