One Layer Card Set

Hello out there ... long time no see.  I'm dusting off the blog to share a few new cards.  Stamping took a back seat to everything else for a long time and I'm happy that I'm finally back at it.

For these one layer cards, I kept things simple by masking off an area on each card and sponging a variety of inks.  Then I chose a silhouette image to stamp over the sponged area and finished it off with a sentiment.

These took no time at all and were so much fun to create.

Tree from Stampscapes and sentiment from Stampin' Up

Silhouettes from Inque Boutique and sentiment from Stampin' Up

Feathers from Sheena and sentiment from Papertrey

Silhouette from Inque Boutique  and sentiment from Papertrey

Leaf image and sentiment from Clearly Besotted

Trees from Stampin' Up, Birds from Stampscapes and sentiment from Papertrey

I'm entering these into Simon Says Stamps Anything Goes challenge and Shopping Our Stash Neon Rainbow challenge.  I certainly shopped my stash on these cards.  Along the way I found some long lost stamps!!!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend,

Masked Butterfly

I saw this gorgeous card on Pinterest and wanted to try my hand at creating something similar.

  • I began by die-cutting a butterfly on a post-it note and then used the negative of the die to do the sponging with distress inks.
  • With the mask still in place I stamped two silhouette images in London Fog ink.
  • Instead of turning that into a one layer card I die cut the sponged butterfly.
  • Stamped a Soft Stone card base with silhouette images in London Fog and mounted the butterfly on there.
With all the muted colors I decided that it should be a sympathy card, thus the beautiful sentiment from PTI's Beautiful Butterflies.  I'm definitely going to make a few one layer cards using this butterfly mask and silhouette images.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Challenge:  Anything Goes

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
